Just bought more Uranium ETF (URA) stock!

The trade has been working well, so decided to increase the position size.

My thesis for this trade is centered around the long-term ESG driven demand for Uranium as western economies transition towards “green” energy. Following the loss of cheap Russian energy supply (e.g., Nord Stream), there’s improved regulatory appetite for nuclear energy in Europe.

Similarly, China is also pressing ahead with its plan to build more nuclear power reactors.

“The Chinese have been pro-nuclear for a long time, but now they seem to have committed to a truly massive scale up to 150 gigawatts in 15 years. And they seem to be on track to meet that goal.” “This will be the largest expansion of nuclear capacity in history, by far.” Source: CNBC August 2023

This trade is also a play on instability in the Middle East. Conflicts in the region look set to continue escalating, threatening the global energy supply. This should add to the resolve of countries that are currently net importers of energy to accelerate their plans to achieve energy independence. Nuclear is still one of the best long term energy solutions, so likely to see stronger demand and sentiment for Uranium and related companies e.g., nuclear equipment manufacturers, which is exactly what this ETF represents.
